01 Introduction
Waste Paper Report ("the App", "we", "us") helps people report overflowing bins, illegal dumping, and paper/waste collection issues in their area, and track pickup status. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, who it may be shared with, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
02 Information we collect
We collect only what's needed to let you submit reports, track their status, and keep the service running reliably.
Name, email address, and phone number when you create an account or sign in.
Precise or approximate location when you submit a report or view nearby pickups, with your permission.
Images you capture or upload to document a waste report, stored with the report.
Device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and general usage analytics.
Location and camera access are requested at the moment they're needed and only used for the purpose you initiated — for example, attaching a photo or pin to a report. You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings; some features may then be unavailable.
03 How we use information
- Operate the service — creating and routing your reports, showing pickup status, and letting you track history.
- Communicate with you — status updates, service notices, and responses to support requests.
- Improve the App — diagnosing crashes, understanding feature usage, and prioritizing fixes.
- Safety & integrity — preventing spam, abuse, or fraudulent reports.
- Legal compliance — meeting obligations to municipal or waste-management partners where applicable.
05 Data storage & security
Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit. We restrict internal access to what's needed to operate and support the App. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
06 Data retention
We keep account and report data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, or maintain historical reporting records for municipal partners. You can request earlier deletion — see Delete your account.
07 Your rights & choices
- Access & correction — view and update your profile information from within the App.
- Delete your data — request account and data deletion any time. Details on our account deletion page.
- Permission controls — manage camera and location access from your device's app settings.
- Opt out of notifications — turn off push notifications in the App or device settings.
08 Children's privacy
Waste Paper Report is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
09 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above, and where appropriate, an in-app notice.
